Worthiness of Ease and Joy: Clearing Limiting Beliefs Series

This one tends to sneak up on people. You might notice it as a low-level guilt when things are going well. A suspicion that the good stuff isn't going to last. A habit of waiting for the other shoe to drop when life feels easy. Or a tendency to find something to worry about when there's actually nothing urgent to worry about.

The belief underneath is: I'm not sure I deserve this. Or: if I let myself enjoy this too much, it'll be taken away. Or simply: ease isn't something that's really available to someone like me.

This belief often forms in environments where things were hard, unpredictable, or where joy was consistently interrupted. The nervous system learned to brace against happiness as a protective move. And now it treats ease as a threat instead of a gift.

Joy is not a reward for suffering enough. Ease is not something you have to earn. These are states that are available to you because you are alive and you are allowed to have a life that feels good. Letting yourself feel joy is not naive. It's actually one of the highest-frequency things you can do.

You are allowed to feel good without a reason and without a catch.

Reflection:

When things are going well, what happens? Do you relax into it or do you start looking for what's wrong? Where does that habit come from?

Simple Practice:

Once this week, let yourself fully enjoy something without adding a "but" to it. Not "this is nice but I should be doing something productive." Just: this is nice. Stay there for a full minute. Let the ease in.
