There are many different ways to practice a chakra balancing meditation. I will give examples of multiple ways in future meditations so you can find the right one for you. I wanted to start with how I meditate each day, I begin with about 1-2 minute of simple breathwork. I then move into a short chakra balancing practice that lasts as long as it needs, usually 1-5 minutes. After that, I follow what feels most supportive in the moment. Sometimes I clear my thoughts and listen quietly to see if spirit has anything to share, which I will talk more about in upcoming posts. Other times, I move into a loving-kindness meditation. Today, I want to focus only on the first two steps which are sometimes just my full daily practice. At first glance It seems very long but truthfully, this part is only about 5-7 minutes in duration.
My personal daily practice
Breath Work 1-2 minutes
Sit in a comfortable position and gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale.
Inhale for a count of four and silently say, I clear my mind. I clear my energy.
Exhale for a count of six and silently say, I return to my light.
Chakra balance 1-5 minutes
Bring your awareness to the base of your spine, the Root Chakra.
Imagine it extending downward like a strong root, anchoring you into the earth.
Allow it to reach as deeply into the ground as feels right for you.
Visualize energy rising up through this root and into your body.
Picture a red ball of light at the base of your spine or at the front of your body.
Feel the energy gathering as the light grows brighter and stronger.
When you feel ready, shift your focus to your lower belly, just below the belly button,
the Sacral Chakra.
Visualize an orange ball of light and sense the energy moving upward from the Root, brightening the light and building vitality.
Next, bring your awareness to the area above your navel, the Solar Plexus Chakra. Picture a yellow ball of light and feel the energy continue to rise, illuminating this center and strengthening its glow.
Shift your awareness to your heart center, the Heart Chakra. Visualize a green ball of light and feel the energy rise into this space, expanding outward with ease and openness.
Then, bring your attention to your throat, the Throat Chakra. Picture a blue ball of light and sense the energy moving upward as the blue light grows clearer and brighter
Move your focus to your forehead, the space between your eyebrows or middle of forehead, the Third Eye Chakra. Visualize an indigo ball of light and feel the energy gather, expand, and continue to rise.
Finally, bring your awareness to the top of your head, the Crown Chakra. Picture a bright white or violet ball of light gently swirling. As the energy reaches your crown, imagine this light extending upward, connecting you to the stars and the greater flow of universal energy.
You can stay at this point for however long you feel is needed.
What Should I Feel when the energy moves?
At times it may feel like it takes a while to sense movement. When that happens, I gently focus on releasing my thoughts, and the energy usually begins to flow. Other times, the energy may move quickly up the body. If that occurs, I simply return to the Root Chakra and begin again, allowing myself to fully experience each chakra opening along the way. You may feel pulsating balls of light, you may feel rotating balls of light. I feel a spiral moving from my Root Chakra to my Crown Chakra.
Try them all to see what feels right.
